Attorney Spotlight

Attorney: Gregory P. Oliveros
Name of Law Firm: The Oliveros Law Group
Market: Portland, Oregon
Contact Info: Phone (503) 335-3800 | E-Mail [email protected]
Quote: The primary focus for criminal defense lawyers is making money. We have to pay for office space and staff. We’d go out of business, if we didn’t make money.

Marketing Idea

Basketball caps are a popular way to market your law firm. When you emboss the 1-800-CRIMINAL Defense Attorney logo on the front and your law firm’s name on the band on the back of the hat, you create a walking billboard.
You can then hand them out at community events, from your office and to vendors around the courthouse. They tell potential clients what you do and how to reach you. You’ll be amazed how just this simple idea generates new leads for criminal cases.

Hints & Tips

How to Tell if Someone is Telling the Truth or Lying
People have tells when it comes to speaking the truth or lying. Here are a few non-verbal ques you can look for to help determine if you are dealing with an honest person or not.

TRUTH: generally if a person moves their eyes to their left and up after being asked a question, they are telling the truth. It is a sign that they are forming their answer from a past memory. So when you read the person’s eyes from your perspective, they would move to your right and up.

LIE: if a person looks to their right and up, it suggests they are making up images and scenarios to tell you. This is a strong indication that he or she is lying to you.

So, the next time you ask a potential client if they have money to pay for a criminal defense attorney – wait and see if they tell you a lie or the truth.

Attorney Spotlight

Attorney: James R. Amarosa II, Esq.
Name of Law Firm: Amarosa Law Firm P.A.
Market: Tampa, Florida
Contact Info: Phone (813) 251-0700 | E-Mail [email protected]

Quote: Be a great lawyer and your money will come; worry about your money, and worries will come. Criminal Defense is all about being the best, winning cases that you never thought you could, having prosecutors want to call or email you with offers or resolutions. Just take the time to be the best defense attorney in your court house and your business will increase tenfold.

Marketing Ideas from James Amarosa, Esq.
Again the best marketing is word of mouth from the clients that were treated with professionalism and “feel they beat the rap.” However, in today’s competitive market that is not enough. One must use other means to generate cases. I use 1-800-CRIMINAL as a tombstone ad and I use direct mailings for every client that gets arrested in my county. I use t-shirts with 1-800-CRIMINAL and the Amarosa Law Firm logo, as well as, on post cards. Another great marketing piece I do is send letters to large firms in my jurisdiction that do not do criminal defense. Nothing makes our firm stronger than a great referral from a 200 year old law firm.

Hints & Tips
Years ago I managed a team of twelve people. Three were men and the rest were women. I’ll admit to being a guy and not really good at reading women. So to get help, I spoke with a Social Worker and Counselor. She said reading women was easy. Ugh?
Look at a woman’s finger nails. Women are busy with friends and family, husbands or dates, and with work and social engagements. So, the key to a woman’s attitude is her finger nails.

If they are done nicely, no matter how frantic her life, she’s handling it and in a good place. If however, the finger nails are a mess, no matter what she says, give her space. She’s not taking enough time from her busy life to meet her personal needs. Approach with caution!
